Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between markup and margin?

Markup is added on top of what the job costs you. Margin is the share of the selling price that is left after your costs. The same percentage gives different prices. If a job costs you 420:

You choose one method for each estimate, and the app shows the price straight away.

How do I get my estimates on my other devices?

Sign in to the same Apple Account on your iPhone, iPad and Mac. In the app's settings, under iCloud sync, turn sync on and choose what to sync. Your data travels through your own iCloud, not through any server of mine. A change can take a few minutes to reach another device, sometimes longer on a Mac. See Sync troubleshooting below if something does not arrive.

What does my customer see when I share an estimate?

Tap Share to client and send the estimate as text or a PDF.

Your hourly rate, hours, overhead, markup or margin, supplier links and the private client name are never included, in any layout. Check the preview before you send it.

Can I make invoices or work out tax?

No. CraftJobQuote makes estimates, not invoices, and does not handle tax or payments. An estimate is a price you offer, not a binding quote or a guarantee of profit.

Which currencies can I use?

US dollars, euros, pounds sterling and Polish złoty (USD, EUR, GBP and PLN). Each estimate has its own currency, and the app does not convert between them. Once an estimate is saved, its currency does not change. A new estimate offers the currency you chose last.

How can I reuse a past estimate?

Open it and choose Duplicate. You get an independent copy to adjust for the new job; the original stays as it was.

How do I delete an estimate?

Swipe it in the list, or open its menu, and choose Delete. It goes to Recently Deleted, where you can restore it for 30 days. See Deleting your data for removing it sooner.

Which languages does the app support?

English and Polish. The app follows your device's language. To use a different language for CraftJobQuote only, change it in your device's settings for the app. Shared estimates are written in the app's current language.

Sync troubleshooting

If none of this helps, email stocki.lukasz+apps@gmail.com with the message the app shows.

Deleting your data

To delete an estimate, swipe it or use its menu and choose Delete. It moves to Recently Deleted, where you can restore it for 30 days; after that it is removed. To remove it sooner, open Recently Deleted and choose Delete permanently, or Empty Recently Deleted to clear everything there. Business profiles, common materials and preview templates work the same way. If you sync, the app asks whether to delete an item everywhere or keep it only on this device. Choosing Delete everywhere also removes it from your iCloud.

To remove everything the app keeps in your iCloud:

Menu names can differ slightly between system versions.

On iPhone and iPad, deleting the app removes the data stored on that device. On a Mac, deleting the app leaves its data on the computer: delete your items in the app and empty Recently Deleted first.
